Service Description

Shop Class instructor Jim Karl is well known throughout New Bern for his creative and colorful pieces that combine CNC carving with intricate resin finishing. For the first time Shop Class is offering a small format class, two student class that will cover introductory CNC carving and resin cure/finish techniques. The class will take you through:  Basic CNC design, set-up and carving.  Pre-resin material prep.  Resin application, texturing and cure.  Finishing a combined wood/resin. Due to the unique nature of work with resin curing the class will take place over two, two-hour sessions. Some work will be required between the class sessions. Each student will have the opportunity to complete a sea turtle in either a flush or recessed resin format. Class fee includes all materials.
