Service Description

This class is intended to teach the basics of vector drawing utilizing the freeware program, Inkscape, to create metal signs and other objects. The course will consist of two sessions: Session One will go over the Inkscape program, including raster vs vector images, how to convert jpegs and other images into vector files, sizing and aligning holes, and cutting parts. Students will then have one week to design their own 23”x11” single layer metal signs for cutting. In the second session the instructor will review and help correct designs, before moving to the Premier Plasma 2’x4’ CNC plasma table to cut the signs out. The class will include setting up the CNC machine, settings, running the cutter, dross removal, and basic finishing techniques. Students are encouraged to take Introduction to Welding, or be familiar with plasma cutting (handeld or CNC) before taking the class.
